Building Brand Awareness & The ReMarketable Mindset
Hello friend, I wanted to share a little about what’s been on my mind, for the past few days. I love the entrepreneurial community so much. Each day I become more inspired by ideas people are coming up with all around the world. I have noticed within the entrepreneurial community that there seems to be some belief systems that are causing more harm than good.
My hope is that this blog inspires you to push past belief systems that are no longer serving you. Let’s dive in!
Victim Mindset
The victim mindset, we’ve all heard and seen it before. The way that I see this showing up in different entrepreneurial communities is for example when a new feature gets announced on Instagram by the CEO Mosseri…I hear immediate pushback of “why is it changing again!?” Instead of thinking creatively about how the new feature could benefit your business for free, there’s a belief that “now I have to learn something new all over again.” It’s understandable to feel frustrated. Maybe, I’ve already called some of you out! No shame! Friends, learning new things is part of being an entrepreneur.
A victim mentality will only hold you back from learning new things.
I will say positioning is SUPER important in the ever-changing world of marketing. So don’t spend all your time on Instagram begin looking for ways to invest your time, for example, invest in an SEO-optimized site or work to build a strong email list where you completely own that space. In marketing it’s important to have a good mix of earned, paid, and owned media. However, put yourself in a position to always learn.
Is Your Business ReMarketable?
Businesses often get too caught up in what their competitors are doing. In order to stay relevant they work to replicate the same types of content. Unfortunately, this is one of the biggest misconceptions in marketing. Here’s what I’d recommend instead first change your mindset and ask yourself how can I become both remarkable and marketable!? Next, instead of looking at what they are doing, find what they are NOT doing. Don’t stop doing competitive analysis, but instead become empowered through it. As a competitor, you can capitalize on areas they are not. This will make you stand out in your area of business. Be unique and stay original! People are drawn to authentic expression whether you’re a personal brand or not!
Are You Allowing Yourself to Fail?
Don’t complain about not getting clients if you’re not willing to spend time investing to get clients. Whether you’re a small business owner or an entrepreneur it’s important to keep failing until you win. Why? Because you learn when you fail. It informs your future and helps you to know the necessary steps that do work. Start investing in your sales and marketing if you’re a service-based business. Begin sharing your offers and learn from your mistakes. Often new businesses complain they aren’t getting clients or making sales…however this is usually due to a lack of experimentation and willingness to fail. Failing is learning, so go out and be willing to fail.
“Your brand should be both remarkable and marketable! Remember the inventive innovators are the ones who become the authorities within the niche arena.”
Clients or Fans?
Successful online engagement and brand awareness increases come from becoming popular. You may think wait this is not high school. Let me explain, first picture yourself at a party. At this party, you notice a group of people gathered around a single person. You wonder why and find yourself being drawn towards them. They appear to be fun and full of energy. Naturally, you want to join in the fun, so you don’t miss out on the fun. This is exactly how you should be thinking about your brand. Is it engaging people, energetic, and fun? People are drawn to fun, positive energy, and joy. If your brand’s messaging and expression are dry and boring you are most likely not going to grow or draw in your target niche.
80/20 Sales
You can also think of your brand as a relationship. If you were in a relationship would you jump straight into saying “I love you?” No! Why? Because you would turn your romantic partner immediately away and most likely ruin the relationship. Instead, you need to take steps over time to give and invest in that person. In the same way, don’t jump right into a sales pitch instead focus on the idea of 80/20. Provide value first consistently over time in a way that is creative and stands out from your competition. Become an inventive innovator! Create new ways to nurture your target audience. Don’t settle for being average. People stand out in their niche because they are doing what no one else is. Naturally, those people are the ones who gain authority in the arena! So have fun and be innovative.
